Pain and dysfunction can develop from an injury / fall or gradually over time.

Trauma can cause ligament strains and/or cartilage damage. Swelling in the knee causes abnormal muscle function. Physiotherapy facilitates healing and the return of normal tissue function. They will identify the specific problems and help you regain your normal strength and muscle balance to enable you to be even better than you pre-injury state.

Non-traumatic knee problems develop from an overstrain on the knee or kneecap (patellofemoral joint) . This may be arising from poor foot posture or due to poor hip control. Physiotherapists are expert at identifying the cause and will treat any injured structures. They will design a rehabilitation programme to unload any excessive strain form your knee.

Many people suffer from knee arthritis and may end up requiring a knee replacement. Physiotherapists will help you manage your condition and provide pain relief. They will get you back to full activity after your surgery.
